For a very long time this area has been included in an administrative area called the Mountain Region. This is divided into valleys which are more or less isolated from each other due to the geography of the area.
Therefore, it is not surprising that these valleys, made up of small villages, each formed a district council which in turn took in all the village councils in their area. Some of the villages grew and separated from the district council, as is the case of Betelu which is segregated from the Araitz Valley, or Lekunberri which is segregated from Larraun.
To make it easier to get to know this area, we have divided it into administrative areas, but the option is also available to find a specific place or village. Bear in mind that all the names of the villages appear in Basque and must be typed correctly in order to access the information. |
