The food in this area of Navarre is one of the most outstanding features: firstly, for its typical local dishes; and secondly, for the careful preparation that is involved. Its success, however, may be attributed to the proven quality of both the raw ingredients and the way they are prepared.
Many of the restaurants have evolved from serving traditional home cooking to the sophisticated new Basque cuisine washed down by local wines.
There are also bars that serve “bocadillos” (filled baguettes) and “pintxos” (tapas) and also offer the chance to have a few drinks. If this is the case, you will need plenty of time and it is recommended not to use the car. |
